Before you start texting, you need to activate your existing phone number to be textable in Alive5.
Optionally, you can choose a random phone number to use for SMS texting.
Activating SMS can take a few minutes up to a few days, also known as the porting process.
A phone line has two parts to it – the voice side and the messaging side. Alive5 only routes the messaging side (SMS/MMS) of your phone number, and does not interfere with the voice side. so you can have two different providers for the same phone number - one for voice and one for text messaging.
Currently, Alive5 can only enable non-mobile phones – such as VoIP and landlines. So you won't be able to text enable your iPhone or Android phone, only your desk and soft phones.

Enter your number into Alive5, receive an automated call with a PIN, and enter it to confirm ownership of the phone number.
A Letter of Authorization (LOA) will need to be signed digitally.
Finally, the porting process starts, which may take a few minutes or a few days. You may have to contact your previous provider to release your numbers.
